Health & Safety
The management of Hemlock Printers is committed to promoting safe and healthy working conditions and attitudes within Hemlock. From the supply of protective equipment (hearing protection, work gloves, safety glasses, masks) to the emphasis on standard work procedures and plant and equipment maintenance, every effort is made to ensure employee’s safety on the job.It is our responsibility as an employer to ensure that our employees receive adequate direction and instruction in the safe performance of their duties. Supervisors are responsible for instructing and monitoring employees under their direction to ensure all work is performed in a safe manner.
At the same time, legislation provides any employee with the right to refuse any work when there is reasonable cause to believe that it would create a hazard to health and safety. All plant employees who work around equipment must insist “Lock-out” procedures be followed.
Our employees are instructed in the value of the protective equipment supplied and their responsibility to follow all safety regulations as outlined in our Standard Work Procedures. Unsafe behaviour will be dealt with in the same manner as any other work-related problem; any employee not observing safety rules will be subject to disciplinary action. Our objective is an accident-free work environment. Employees are encouraged to report any legitimate health and safety concern to Hemlock’s supervisors or to the Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
