Metal FX

MetalFX® Technology is a Universal Process and Spot Metallic Colour System that allows multiple metallic colours to be printed, all by adding only the one MetalFX® base silver or gold ink to a specially formulated set of CMYK inks. This special CMYK ink-set has a higher transparency, allowing the metallic pigment to show through, for a greater metallic effect. In order to use the MetalFX® technology, and for the best results, the specialized ink-set must be used. To become a MFX® certified printer, the printer must purchase the Printer’s Kit, and perform a press test for approval by MetalFX® in England.

MetalFX® enables an unlimited number of metallic colours to be printed all at once. All that is needed are at least five printing units. In addition to flat tinted colours, the silver and gold inks can be introduced into four colour process images, resulting in five colour separations.
