Hemlock Delivers With Canada’s First 100% Electric Trucks

Burnaby, BC – July 13, 2010 – Hemlock Printers is proud to announce its participation as the first customer of Novex Couriers’ 100% electric powered delivery service. The trucks, manufactured by Smith Electric, are the first of their kind in Canada and will be used by Hemlock for daily freight and courier deliveries primarily in Burnaby, Vancouver and Richmond.

Hemlock’s interest in lower emission couriers was spurred by its commitment to reducing its operational greenhouse gas emissions 33% by 2020. By shifting a portion of its local deliveries to electrically powered trucks, Hemlock is able to achieve real emission reductions and have found a fitting complement to Zero, Hemlock’s Carbon Neutral printing program.

Hemlock welcomes the arrival of emission-free freight services as another great example of green business innovation within our community and is proud to support its success.  Each electric truck will save approximately 29 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions yearly and eliminates smog-forming exhausts, equivalent to taking 6 cars off the road.
